The Junior Section of Kendal Fencing Club was formed in November 2008 with grant funding support from The National Lottery, Kendal Lads & Girls Club & Kendal Lions.

Numbers vary but we have equipment for up to 25 children training regularly on a Monday evening in the main hall of Kendal Leisure Centre under the supervision of fully qualified, insured and CRB cleared England Fencing registered coaches. Coach-to-pupil ratio is kept deliberately low to ensure plenty of individual attention and teaching.

Your child will learn physical and mental agility, sporting behaviour and attitudes and will be challenged both physically and mentally. Fencers are closely supervised throughout each session. You are very welcome to come into the club at any time and watch. Should you have any questions about our club or its activities please do not hesitate to contact us.

What does my child need to start fencing?

The club will provide all the necessary safety equipment and clothing (mask, glove, jacket, plastron and of course a foil). The young fencer should wear:

Those who use an inhaler should bring it with them and those with long hair should have something with which to tie their hair back.

What does it cost?

The Junior beginners course costs £30.00 for 6 weeks. This includes hire of club equipment and all coaching.

For those who wish to continue fencing after the beginners course our annual subs are £25.00 + £3.00 per night. For this you will also be allowed free use of the clubs equipment should you wish to do so. There are links to several equipment suppliers on the links page for those members who wish to purchase their own kit.
